Questions mechanical contractors ask us

The questions owners and estimators at commercial mechanical firms ask before hiring a marketing service, answered plainly, including the ones about what we won't do.

These are the questions we hear most often from owners, general managers and chief estimators at commercial mechanical firms. The answers are short on purpose. If yours isn't here, a short text or email is the quickest way to ask.

Frequently asked questions

What does it cost?

Plans start at $1,999 per month, with Elite at $3,999 and Enterprise at $7,999, in Canadian dollars plus GST/HST based on your province (GST and QST in Quebec). Third-party costs such as portal fees or printing are set out separately.

Are we locked into a contract?

No. You pay month by month, sign no multi-year term, and can stop any plan by giving 30 days' notice.

How long before we see results?

Prequal packages and project pages can be ready within four to six weeks. Invitations usually move over one or two bid cycles, often three to six months, and PM agreement growth shows over 12 to 24 months because of renewal dates.

We hired an agency before and got nothing. Why is this different?

Many agencies sell residential tactics to commercial firms. We measure invitations, prequal pass rate and agreements, not clicks, and we tell you in the first month if marketing isn't your real bottleneck.

Who owns the website, documents and accounts?

Your firm. Websites, domains, ad and analytics accounts, contact lists and the prequal package are set up in your company's name, and ownership is confirmed in writing in your proposal.

Do you bid or estimate for us?

No. Pricing, scope, bid forms and submission stay with your estimators. We work on everything around the bid: being invited, passing the screen and staying in touch.

Are you a mechanical contractor?

No. We're a marketing and business consulting service. We never install, repair, maintain or design mechanical systems.

Is your outreach CASL-compliant?

We build outreach around consent records, sender identification and unsubscribe handling as described in federal guidance. It's practical marketing, not legal advice, and we recommend your lawyer reviews your approach.

Can you promise more tenders or awards?

No one honestly can. Awards depend on your price, schedule, capacity and reputation. We commit to doing the agreed work and reporting the numbers every month.

How do you report?

Monthly, on business measures: invitations by source, distinct GCs inviting you, prequal submissions and pass rate, agreements signed and renewed, and outreach replies.

Do you meet in person?

Yes. We'll meet at your office or ours, or on a video call, whichever is easier for your team.

Can we start with just a prequal package?

Yes. Many firms start there because it has a clear finish line. We'll tell you what else, if anything, is worth adding.

Do you work with residential HVAC or plumbing shops?

Our focus here is commercial mechanical contractors. A firm selling mainly to homeowners will usually be better served by a residential-focused plan.

Cost and contracts

Plans are published and month-to-month. Growth is $1,999 a month, Elite $3,999 and Enterprise $7,999, in Canadian dollars plus GST/HST by province. You can cancel with 30 days' notice. The pricing page has a worked check on whether a plan pays for itself, using your average package value and margin.

What isn't in a plan is set out separately: portal subscriptions, any ad spend, printing, photography. Nothing is hidden inside the monthly fee.

Scope: what we do and don't do

The direct answer: we market and advise; we don't build, maintain, design, estimate or certify.

We work on invitations, prequal packages, project and safety pages, relationship programs, PM agreement sales and outreach. We don't price bids, sign prequal forms, audit safety programmes, or give legal advice on procurement or anti-spam rules. When a question belongs to your surety, safety adviser, accountant or lawyer, we'll say so. The services overview describes each service.

Timelines and results

Some work has a clear finish line: a prequal package in about four weeks, initial project pages in about six. Other results follow your market's rhythm. Invitations move as GCs build lists for new projects, and agreements move on renewal dates.

We set a baseline in the first month and report against it monthly. If invitations aren't moving after two bid cycles in your target sectors, we review the plan with you instead of waiting.

If you've been burned before

A common story: an agency ran search ads and a social account for a commercial mechanical firm, reported impressions, and nothing changed in the bid log. That's not a failure of marketing; it's the wrong marketing for an ICI buyer.

Ask any agency, including us, three questions:

  1. What will you count each month, and how does it connect to invitations or agreements?
  2. Who owns the accounts and files if we leave?
  3. What will you tell us if marketing isn't our real problem?

Our answers are on this page and on the about page.

Working with your team

The direct answer: we need a little time from a few people, not a lot of time from everyone.

Typically, the owner or general manager joins the first strategy sessions and a monthly review. An estimator or estimating coordinator helps with the bid log and target list. A PM or two contributes project details and photos. The service manager owns agreement scope and pricing. Most months, that's a few hours in total across the team, with more in the first six weeks while records are gathered.

We'll also tell you where our work stops. We don't sit in bid meetings, negotiate with GCs on your behalf, or speak for your firm on technical matters. Your people stay the face of the company; we make sure the market sees them clearly.

Commercial versus residential focus

This service is shaped for firms whose buyers are GCs, CMs, owners and facility managers. If your work is split, say 60% commercial and 40% residential service, we'll plan around the commercial side and tell you honestly whether the residential side needs a different approach, a different budget, or simply less attention than it gets today.

Ownership, reporting and starting

Everything we build for you is in your company's name. Reporting is monthly and in plain numbers. To start, call, text or email with a line about your firm, or read how to contact us for what to include. Consultations happen by video call or in person.
